Pastor Jeff’s Corner (Blog)

This scripture is from Isaiah 38;

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” 2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

I am moved by this scripture. Hezekiah was about to leave this life and go home and he made a statement to God
about his faith. I don’t believe he was boasting. I think he was talking with God in a familiar way – as he had built a
relationship with God that he cherished. He had worshiped and walked with God faithfully – wholeheartedly. And
now, he was going home to be with Him in person! In reflecting, I wonder if I could make that same statement. At the end of my days here, I want to be able to, because I realize how meaningful it will be for me to walk with God
throughout my life. How about you?

I have learned how important it is to make time for daily devotions with the Lord. To read scripture, reflect on it, and
then take a few more moments to journal about my time with God helps in the building of my foundation in Christ.
As a part of my spiritual disciplines I also incorporate listening to praise and worship music (traditional and modern) to be surrounded by the presence of God. My hope is to permeate all my senses with the things of God for whatever time I can set aside. AND it’s incredible how the Holy Spirit brings about a sense of awe and wonder at this time I devote to God.

Two devotions I would like to recommend to you include; 1) Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, and 2)
Sarah Young, Jesus Calling; Enjoying Peace in His Presence. Now, the first devotional is really deep and worth your
efforts to read and absorb what Mr. Chambers discovered in his walk with God and shares with us through his devotional.
The second devotional is very unique and we have been sharing excerpts of it every Sunday morning at
church. Ms. Young shares a unique ability to share God’s words of inspiration based on scripture. Both are available
through Amazon for about $15.00 and worth every penny.

In September we spent a lot of time talking about transformation. Embracing the spiritual disciplines mentioned
above will transform your walk with Christ. Saying yes I receive Christ is the first step in a Christian walk. Saying yes I follow Christ is the second step on your lifetime walk with Jesus. Let’s keep walking a devoted life with Jesus
together!

God bless you and keep you.
In Christ’s love,
Pastor Jeff
