Pastor Jeff’s Corner for January: YEAR TO SHINE….2020!

Hello dear friends in Christ! Can you believe we are embracing the year 2020? The years just seem to fly by and that’s all the more reason to embrace each day and celebrate it as a gift from God.

Hebrews 11:6 reads, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” The question I pose to you as we begin the new year is; How are we seeking God? I was thinking about this today and I share with you that my walk with God is not as consistent as I
would like it to be. Life seems to offer many distractions and I get off track sometimes. How about you?

This year we will celebrate seventy-five years as a Methodist Church in Clewiston! I can’t think of a better time to promote the good news of Jesus Christ to a hurting world around us. One way we will be reaching out to folks is through the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine event that we will hold at the John Boy Auditorium on February 7th, 2020. As we grow with Christ, we can invite others to grow as well.

Night to Shine celebrates its sixth anniversary and is a prom night experience for persons with special needs ages 14 and up. “This past year, on one night, 655 churches from around the world came together to host Night to Shine for approximately 100,000 honored guests through the support of 200,000 volunteers!” For more information on how to get involved through volunteering or to sign up an honored guest, please visit our website at www.fumclewiston.com

In seeking God’s face we should live out our faith through service to our community and to the world. Serving through the local church and through events like Night to Shine, give us the opportunity to share the love of God with people that may have never experienced God’s love before. Together we can make 2020 our year to shine as Christ’s Church.

I will be sharing ways throughout 2020 of how we can grow in our faith and “earnestly seek him.” Won’t you join me as a part of Christendom in making a difference in this world for Jesus Christ? You can begin by setting aside some time each day to read the Word of God; listen to and/or sing hymns or worship songs; pray the Lords’ prayer or other scripture that lends itself to prayer.

In closing let me offer this prayer; Lord, you are an awesome Creator! Thank you for this day and all the wonder and awe that it holds. Help me to get closer to you. Help me to learn more about you and your ways each day. Help me Lord to overcome obstacles that might take me away from you. Lord, I give myself to you and ask that you continue the transformation inside of me that you began when I said yes to a personal relationship with you. I pray all of these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.

God loves you and so do I,
Pastor Jeff

  1. Hello, I am the ESE teacher for MOORE HAVEN MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL. My students range from 6th-12th grade. How would I get some information about sending/bringing some of my students?
