Pastor Jeff’s Corner for November: “Being Thankful”

Can you believe it’s November already? When I was a child, this time of year was marked by snow falling, colder temperatures and thoughts of football and great food at my family table. Living in Florida, the weather certainly is different and I’m not sure about football being played as more players test positive for Covid – but I’m sure there will still be a meal and much more to be thankful for. God is always providing for me and I know I should be more grateful. Let’s check on what scripture says.

Psalm 118:1 reads
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. “ So, what if we start each day in November by thanking God through prayer for his love and blessings in our life? Would that help us rejoice in the balance of our day if we started out by being thankful? Would it make us more aware of our surroundings and of all the goodness we receive as children of God? It might even encourage us to share our blessings with one another.

Matthew 5:16 reminds us to do just that; “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Let’s join together to make the whole month of November a month of praise and thanksgiving to God for His love and faithfulness.

I’d love to hear from you and I’ll share what you are grateful for on Sunday November 22 at the 10am worship time. Please write to me today at: pastor@fumcclewiston.com .

God loves you and so do I,
Pastor Jeff
