Pastor Jeff’s Corner for June 2021: “Maturing in Christ”

I love this time of year as we celebrate our church’s high school graduates like Evelyn Jones and look forward to their next exciting chapter in life. Evelyn will be attending New College of Florida in Sarasota. Having known her for seven years now, I have watched her grow up to be an intelligent, caring person. This is one of my pastor perks in witnessing our flock mature. Oh, what a blessing!

God gets to see us grow up and mature too. If you ever wonder what that process looks like to Him, we need only look at scripture. The subtitle in Ephesians 4 is, Living As Children of Light. These verses give us insight to the maturation process; 21Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

A great opportunity lies in this new nature we embrace as Children of Light, otherwise known as believers in Jesus Christ. A new chapter of maturity is always around the corner when we actively pursue growth in knowing Christ. Need a change of attitude or a change of thought patterns? Pray for the Holy Spirit to renew you.

I join you in celebrating the graduates in your life! Please let me know* their name, where they are graduating from and their future plans and we will list them in our July newsletter and pray over them together.

Happy Summer!!
God loves you and so do I,
Pastor Jeff
