Pastor Jeff’s Corner for July 2021: “Celebrating Our Heritage & Mission”

July is a month when we celebrate our independence and birth as a nation. Often times we watch fireworks and come together to eat hot dogs, apple pie and take a ride in a Chevrolet! We might even take in a baseball game. And on the heels of COVID-19 perhaps our celebration will be more heartfelt because of what we have endured and overcome.
As we’ve begun our 76th year as a Christian church we have much to look forward to. Some of our plans include VBS this month, a New Teachers Luncheon in August, along with the restart of the Precepts Bible-Study, another GriefShare Group in September for those working through grief, and a Christian Concert Series beginning in November!

I also begin my 8th year of serving as your pastor for the Sweetest Town in America. We continue to encourage people to share their testimony, renew or begin a relationship with Jesus and equip those who will help lead our church in fulfilling our mutual mission.

If I’ve learned one thing after living through a pandemic is that we are a resilient people. And with God’s direction and blessings we can glorify Him and make this world a better place. But all of us must play a part. In the weeks ahead I’ll be asking for folks to step up and serve in specific roles in our church.

1st Peter 4:10 reads, Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

Two particular areas of concentration to relaunch include our First Kids Children and Limitless Youth Ministries. We have budgets for both and we want to help both groups grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ. I ask you to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to inform you about how you might honor God and community with your service.
God bless you and keep you,

Pastor Jeff
