Every year we hear similar goals of Americans wanting to achieve, receive or believe something in the New Year. Often these goals have to do with losing or gaining weight, relationship issues, money or an employment situation. When I recently read the magazine lifegoalsmag.com, surprisingly, these were their top five goals for 2022:
1) Volunteer Abroad or Locally
2) Create/Join a Community
3) Go 30 Days Without Complaining
4) Teach Someone Something
5) Learn to Cook New Meals
Now, I like where they are heading on this list in some areas, but for me, once again, they have missed the mark. There is no mention of having a better spiritual relationship with Jesus. For me, this is a top recurring goal each year. I figure if the King of Kings, would give His life for me to be reconciled to Him, I should want to grow closer in our relationship. James 4:8 (NLT) says, Come close to God, and God will come close to you.
I’ve read on social media where one person’s goal is to grow into a seven figure income for 2022. Foolishly, I had a similar goal in my late twenties. Working to the point of exhaustion and thinking that I had all the answers, brought me to a point in life where I had to ask the question; why am I really here and how do I find joy? I’ve found both my purpose and joy through my belief in Jesus Christ. Psalm 16:11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
Let’s prayerfully agree THAT; Relationship Takes Two – Jesus and Me in 2022 will be our mantra this new year. And all of your other relationships will be blessed because you put Jesus first! See you in church as we grow in Christ together!
Love you!
