BOY SCOUT TROOP 619 – Clewiston, Florida

We camp, hike, fish, bike, rappel, cave, whitewater raft/canoe, swim, shoot bows/rifle/shotgun and just about anything a young man is interested in while teaching teamwork, leadership, citizenship, physical fitness, duty to GOD, others and self. We do not allow hazing, bullying, or other forms of disrespect to others.

Our troop meets at the First United Methodist Church in Clewiston, FL, two blocks north of the KFC (Hwy 27) on the corner of Arcade and Osceola – 7 pm – 8:30 every week on Thursday. We do not allow the boys to be dropped off earlier than 5 minutes before seven / unless there are adults  … AND we strongly encourage parent support and participation – which encourages the scout and educates the parent in what is happening in the troop.

This year we have already presented three scouts the Eagle awards (that were earned last year, but have been waiting on a ceremony) and we have two more that will finish their last requirements for Eagle soon and receive their badge in November or December.

We have been sponsored continuously now since our origin as Troop 619 for approximately 30 years. Our former scouts (Eagles Scouts) now include young men who: is an aeronautical engineer / business entrepreneur, a chef, a college football player, one accepted into the Peace Corps, a Navy Seal, a Missionary doing a two year project before college, a US Coast Guard Rescue Diver Instructor, a BSA District Executive, a major local sugar cane farm owner, an executive leadership intern with the U of F Dept. of Agriculture and another still in high school seeking to be the Valedictorian of his graduating class.

We do not allow unregistered adults to closely interact with the boys per our Youth Protection Policy, thus while you are encouraged to visit and observe, you cannot engage in activities with them until such time that you also register and complete a background check if you so desire and are approved as a leader. We encourage parents to volunteer their spare time becoming a troop leader; helping the troop/boys as they are able and have talent.
